The best SE Ranking alternatives in 2026 (and when to stay with SE Ranking)

Facts checked October 2026. Prices change: check each vendor before buying.

SE Ranking is often the tool people move to when Semrush or Ahrefs gets too expensive, so looking for an SE Ranking alternative usually means something specific is missing rather than the whole tool being wrong. Maybe the agency setup costs more than the headline price, maybe you need fixes done rather than listed, or maybe you only use the rank tracker and want a specialist. This article goes through six alternatives to SE Ranking, with prices from each official pricing page (checked October 2026), and is honest about the cases where SE Ranking remains the better buy.

If you’re weighing RankThat specifically, the RankThat vs SE Ranking page compares the two line by line.

Where SE Ranking falls short for some teams

SE Ranking’s Core plan is $129 a month (or $103.20 billed annually) for 10 projects, 2,000 keywords tracked daily and one seat. That is fair value. The friction shows up when an agency adds what it needs to serve clients:

What you needHow SE Ranking sells it
AI search tracking (AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Gemini)AI Search add-on, $89/mo ($71.20 billed annually)
White-label platform and reports, client seatsAgency Pack, +$69/mo, annual billing only
API+$45/mo, annual billing only
More team membersExtra seats from $16 each
Fixes applied on the websiteNot offered; each issue has manual “How to fix” steps

An agency on Core that adds AI Search and the Agency Pack pays about $287 a month with AI Search billed monthly, or $243.40 a month with everything billed annually. That is still reasonable, but it is no longer a $129 tool.

The other gap is the work itself. SE Ranking’s site audit explains what to fix. Someone still has to log in to each client’s WordPress, change titles, add redirects and write schema. For agencies with 20 small sites, that time is the real cost.

Work out what you actually need first

Because SE Ranking already covers a lot for the price, switching only pays off if the new tool solves the specific problem you have. Before you trial anything, answer these:

  1. Which search engines do your clients care about? If anyone asks about Bing or YouTube rankings, keep a tool that tracks them.
  2. How many projects and keywords do you really use? Count them. Many agencies pay for 10 projects and use four, or pay for 2,000 keywords and track 600.
  3. Who makes the changes on client sites? If your team spends hours each month logging in to WordPress to edit titles, redirects and schema, a tool that applies fixes saves more than a cheaper subscription would.
  4. What do clients read? A dashboard full of charts, or a short written summary of what changed and what you did? This decides whether you need a reporting tool, an SEO platform with reports built in, or both.
  5. Are your clients local? Map results and Google Business Profile reviews matter more to a dentist than a national blog.

For example, a fictional agency managing Brightside Dental and four other local practices on SE Ranking Core might find it uses five projects, about 1,200 keywords, white label through the Agency Pack and no Bing tracking. That profile fits a platform with local and client reporting built in. An agency tracking YouTube rankings for 25 small e-commerce brands has a different answer, and may be better staying put.

Six alternatives to SE Ranking

RankThat: for agencies that want the fixes done

Who it suits: agencies and freelancers with WordPress and local business clients.

Price: Starter $50/mo (1 project), Professional $99/mo (5 projects, 1,000 tracked keywords per project, 3 team members per project), Enterprise $199/mo (unlimited projects, keywords and team members). Yearly is 10 months’ price. Every plan has a 14-day free trial; you add a card when you sign up and aren’t charged until the trial ends. See pricing.

Strengths:

  • The WordPress Bridge plugin (free) applies approved fixes: SEO titles and descriptions, redirects for broken pages, schema, alt text, image compression, internal links for orphan pages and more. Every change can be undone in one click, and RankThat re-checks the live page afterwards.
  • AI visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Overviews, white-label reports and a client portal are included in Professional rather than sold as add-ons.
  • Local SEO includes a map grid, citations and Google Business Profile reviews, with replies drafted for you to post in Google.

Limitation: RankThat tracks Google only. If clients care about Bing, Yahoo or YouTube rankings, SE Ranking covers them and RankThat doesn’t.

Who it suits: teams that need more data than SE Ranking has, or PPC research in the same account.

Price: SEO $139/mo (5 websites, 500 keywords tracked daily), SEO + AI Search Starter $199/mo, Pro+ $299/mo (15 websites, 1,500 keywords). Billed annually: $117.33, $165.17 and $248.17. 7-day free trial.

Strengths: 28B+ keywords in 142 geographic databases and 43T+ backlinks. Advertising, market and social tools alongside SEO. API access on Advanced and Enterprise.

Limitation: fewer projects and keywords for the money than SE Ranking, and extra users start at $45/mo.

Who it suits: SEOs whose main job is backlink analysis and link building.

Price: Lite $129/mo (750 tracked keywords), Standard $249/mo (2,000), Advanced $449/mo (5,000), Enterprise $1,499/mo with an annual commitment. Each plan includes one user; extra users cost $40 to $80/mo.

Strengths: 35T backlink records with the index updated every 15 minutes. 28.7B keywords across 217 locations. API and MCP access from Lite.

Limitation: rank tracking updates weekly, and Report Builder ($99/mo) and Brand Radar AI (from $199/mo) are add-ons.

Moz Pro: for authority metrics and team training

Who it suits: SEOs who report on Domain Authority and want training material for staff.

Price: Standard $99/mo (3 sites, 300 keywords, 1 user), Medium $179/mo (10 sites, 1,500 keywords, 2 users), Large $299/mo (25 sites, 3,000 keywords, 3 users). Yearly: $79, $143 and $239.

Strengths: Domain Authority, Page Authority and Brand Authority. AI prompt tracking (GPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode) in every plan. MozBar Premium Chrome extension.

Limitation: far fewer tracked keywords per dollar than SE Ranking, and local SEO is a separate Moz Local subscription.

AccuRanker: if you only use the rank tracker

Who it suits: agencies and in-house teams that track large keyword sets and use other tools for everything else.

Price: Professional from €224/mo for 2,000 keywords (tiers to 5,000), Expert from €764/mo (10,000 to 25,000 keywords), Enterprise on request above 25,000. Annual payment gives a 10% discount. Prices are shown in euros.

Strengths: daily updates on every plan. Tagging, advanced filtering, search intent and Search Console and Google Analytics connections from the first tier. A read API, AI CTR and a Data Studio connector on Expert.

Limitation: it is a rank tracker, not an SEO platform. There is no site audit, backlink tool or content tooling on the plans, and the entry price is well above SE Ranking Core.

AgencyAnalytics: if reporting is the pain

Who it suits: full-service agencies that report on PPC, social and email as well as SEO.

Price: Core $20 per client per month billed annually, with unlimited staff and client users. Rank Tracker is an add-on at $41.67/mo for 500 keywords; AI Tracker (beta) is $20.83/mo for 250 credits (both billed annually). 14-day free trial without a card.

Strengths: 85+ integrations in one white-label dashboard. Custom domain and custom email for the client login. Unlimited users.

Limitation: its SEO tools are thin compared with SE Ranking: a Site Auditor covering 40+ common issues and no dedicated keyword research tool.

When SE Ranking is still the better choice

  • You track more than Google. Bing, Yahoo and YouTube positions are built in. RankThat tracks Google only.
  • You have many small sites. Ten projects and 2,000 daily keywords for $129 is hard to match if each client needs only a few dozen keywords.
  • You want an API cheaply. API access is a $45/mo add-on, with credits on each plan. RankThat has no public API.
  • You want to try without a card. SE Ranking’s 14-day trial doesn’t ask for one. RankThat’s does, though you aren’t charged until the trial ends.

If those points describe you, the cheapest improvement may be adding the Agency Pack rather than switching.

Switching from SE Ranking to RankThat

There is no SE Ranking import, so ranking history in RankThat begins on the day you add keywords.

  1. Export from SE Ranking: tracked keywords per project with groups and locations, a final rankings report, backlink and disavow lists, and the last few client reports as PDFs.
  2. Add each client site as a project in RankThat, and connect Search Console, Google Analytics 4 and Google Business Profile. Search Console brings its own click history, so traffic trends don’t reset.
  3. Paste keywords into a Keyword List and send them to the Rank Tracker. Choose daily or weekly, desktop or mobile, and the location for each project.
  4. Install the free Bridge plugin on WordPress sites and run the first audit. Approve fixes one batch at a time so clients see steady progress.
  5. Set up the client portal and report branding, then compare the first drafted monthly report with your last SE Ranking report before cancelling.

Keep the SE Ranking subscription until the first RankThat monthly report is approved. One overlapping month costs less than a gap in a client’s ranking history.

For the reporting side, white-label reporting explains what clients see, and the agencies page covers team access across sites.
